I find it ironic that the little Navajo girl who grew up with limited access to technology has a career in film Media.
I would spend my time using my imagination by drawing in notebook after notebook, creating my own stories and characters, and having adventures across my reservation.
I grew up in the Four Corners region of Shiprock, New Mexico, on the Navajo reservation. Raised by my single mother with the help of my grandparents. All my life, I was one of those little kids who was constantly drawing in my notebooks.
I graduated from the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in Cinematic Arts & Technology and a minor in Interactive Arts & Game Design. Recently, I was accepted to the Savannah College of Arts & Design, where I am pursuing my Master's in Animation.
I have aimed to bring Indigenous representation to animated movies and shows so Native youth today can have a character who looks like them. To be encouraged that their dreams are possible.
