Since 2024, I have been working on a documentary project from the NMSU Agricultural Science Center about Farmers' Resiliency along the San Juan River. We interviewed Navajo Farmers to discuss their farming practices and how they were affected by the 2015 Gold King Mine Spill.
The majority of the interviewees are elderly, so they were hesitant to be on camera. I gave them the option to tell us their story, and I would draw them as a cartoon character instead. In this video, you will find the hand-drawn animation clips that I created using Clip Studio Paint.
Logline: After many years, Leon Yazzie gets to visit his grandmother, who lives on the reservation. However, after being away for so long, he had forgotten how to speak his language.
This animatic was for my Aesthetics in Animation class, where we worked on a short animatic for a possible short film.
For my storyboard class, we created a short animatic based on a poem. My poem was about the Navajo cradleboard that was written by a Navajo Poet named Luci Tapahonso.
